Khao means eat. So eat well.
Khao Halal is a city-by-city guide to the good stuff — kabab rolls at midnight, birria that drips, smash burgers, chaat, biryani by the plate — every spot halal, every pick sourcing-checked.
Not a directory. A shortlist.
Every city gets fifty picks, not five hundred listings.
Directories list everything and vouch for nothing. Khao Halal does the opposite: a short, opinionated list per city — the roll worth crossing town for, the cart that sells out by nine, the biryani you order for a table of six.
And because "halal" on an awning can mean ten different things, we check sourcing before a spot makes the list: where the meat comes from, hand or machine slaughter, and whether the fryer is shared. The answer is printed on every pick, so you choose by your own standard.
No spot can pay to be on the list. Ever.
How a spot makes the list.
Every pick starts with plates on a table, paid for by us. If the food isn't worth your drive, the sourcing never gets checked.
Supplier, slaughter method per protein, certification if any, shared fryers. The answers get printed on the pick, in the owner's words.
Fifty picks per city, reviewed every season. A spot that slips on food or sourcing comes off the list — there's no grandfather clause.
